Senior Graphic And Packaging Designer Spoonful of Comfort - 5.0 West Valley City, UT Job Details Full-time $95,000 - $120,000 a year 2 hours ago Qualifications Teamwork Packaging graphic design E-commerce Packaging Prepress software Brand identity design Figma Design systems Art direction Full Job Description About Spoonful of Comfort Spoonful of Comfort is a direct-to-consumer gifting company. People send our packages when someone is sick, grieving, celebrating, or just because they're thinking of someone else. Everything we make, design, and produce is made with the consideration that someone may be receiving it on a difficult day. This is a delicate, but rewarding thing to design for. Internally, our creative team is growing, and we're looking to hire our first in-house designer. You will play a key role in designing and iterating on product packaging, digital designs and campaigns, as well as contributing to and assisting in creative direction and brand design. Our company culture is heavily influenced by the care that we curate. The comfort and care that we put into customer packages extends equally into the work that we do, and the way departments interact. We are connected, team focused, and genuinely excited about the work we do and the standards we uphold for customers and each other. The Design Split Roughly 80% of your time will be spent on packaging and print. Boxes, sleeves, inserts, labels, patterns, gift enclosures, collateral. Die-lines, Pantones, bleeds, substrate calls, proof reviews, press checks. You'll work alongside Product Development from early concept through production file. About 10% is digital graphics. Campaign and product creative adapted for the site, email, and landing pages, web layout mockups, and working inside an established design system. The remaining 10% of your time will be spent concepting, documenting design decisions, maintaining established brand guidelines, and offering creative direction support. Creative At Spoonful of Comfort Our internal creative team functions like an in-house agency. The requesting department is the "client." Most of the time they arrive with the direction already set, and your job is to execute it beautifully and elevate it past what they imagined. Sometimes they arrive with nothing but a need, and ask you to set the direction. This role asks for someone heavily familiar with creating actual design under existing creative guidelines, but who is willing and able to step up and provide direction when it is asked for. Comfortability with creative iteration, preferably through agency work, is a must. Much of what you make will be reviewed and approved by non-designers. Because of that, feedback can be vague, contradictory, or changing. Our creative work is very much established around a collaborative, team-forward atmosphere. We like to call it the "Creative Village Model". Here, it takes a village, and many different teams and departments will work alongside you towards the same goal. You'll need to be genuinely good at translating feedback that lacks specific direction into design decisions, and comfortable with the fact that the final call often isn't yours. We're looking for someone whose satisfaction comes from what the work does for the brand rather than from having their own vision preserved intact. Our Aesthetic Spoonful of Comfort's design language is collected vintage, heritage, heirloom, and handcrafted. Warm and worn palettes, script and serif typography and patterns and textures that feel found. Clean and contemporary underneath, but never sterile, never trend-chasing, and never true-modern. A portfolio that showcases existing work in this aesthetic, or adjacent to this aesthetic is a huge plus. What You'll Need 5+ years of professional design experience, with agency time strongly preferred A portfolio with substantial packaging and print work in it, ideally consumer product Deep print production knowledge. Die-lines, prepress, Pantone systems, packaging specs, substrate behavior Advanced Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop. Familiarity with Figma Experience designing in existing brand guidelines and confidence building upon those guidelines from creative direction that may change and/or be loosely defined. The ability to run several projects at once without letting the details slip Comfort presenting and defending work to non-designers, and revising it when they disagree Nice to have: ecommerce or DTC background, merchandise or product graphics experience, pattern and surface design.
