Job Title:
Mechanical Designer Job Description This Mechanical Designer will be responsible for creating detailed 3D models and assembly drawings using Solidworks. The primary focus will be on the design and development of complete chassis systems, chassis components, chassis cabs, and a variety of other mechanical parts. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in mechanical design and be highly proficient in 3D solid modeling. In addition to design work, the engineer will collaborate with the shop floor to verify fit and function, ensuring that designs are accurately translated into physical components. Responsibilities Create detailed 3D models and assembly drawings using Solidworks. Design and develop complete chassis systems and various mechanical parts. Collaborate with the shop floor to verify fit and function. Ensure designs are accurately translated into physical components. Meet project deadlines with accuracy and precision. Essential Skills Expertise in Solidworks 3D Sheet metal design experience Proficiency in GD&T Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience creating BOM Experience with air and hydraulic schematics Experience in heavy truck or transportation chassis design Work Environment The work environment includes an engineering building where the designer will work alongside other engineers. The role involves primarily designing at a cubicle with some interaction with the shop floor to ensure accuracy and troubleshoot issues. The project team includes 10 engineers (8 Design Engineers and 2 Electrical Engineers) and provides opportunities to work alongside functional leads and mentors. The work schedule is Monday to Thursday, 6:00 am to 4:00 pm, with some required overtime on Fridays at 1.5x regular pay. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Charlotte, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
