Job Description

Chassis Frame Engineer Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is looking for a design and release engineer to join the Structures Engineering Design Team and support current and future body-on-frame design and development efforts. Additionally, the Chassis Frame Engineer could support with Body/BIW (body-in-white) structure development efforts concerning current and future product development.
What You Will Do:
Design and develop frame structure(s), components, and systems for new vehicles, including Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis vehicles, with a focus on lightweight, high-strength steel and aluminum materialsConduct research and analysis to identify key design requirements and develop innovative solutions for electric vehicle platformsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure integration of body-on-frame structure systems with other vehicle subsystems, including battery systems and electric powertrainsSupport and interface with manufacturing teams and design studios on vehicle development effortsDevelop and maintain engineering documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and validation reportsStudy and interpret vehicle performance and test results (e.g., FMVSS, IIHS, NVH, R&H, Body Torsional Stiffness, etc.)Create and manage a bill of materials, with updated weights at each stage of the vehicle development processProvide technical guidance and support to other engineers and team membersParticipate in benchmarking activities to study competitive OEMs' structural strategiesCreate and modify 3D data and 2D drawings via CATIA V5 and other engineering toolsLiaise between North American affiliates and Korean headquartersUpdate Management throughout the product lifecycleTravel up to 25% of the time, both domestically and internationally What You Will Bring to the
Role:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineeringMinimum 3 years of experience in body-on-frame design and developmentExperience in meeting structural requirements concerning impact, NVH, and durability focusesGood working knowledge of vehicle structure design, material properties, and assembly processesKnowledge of mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering design and processesKnowledge of tooling design variables and processes, along with related materialsInnovative thinking and proactive approaches to the technical direction of structural componentsFamiliarity withCAD and 3D design tools
CATIA V5
experience highly preferred, but not requiredAbility to explain technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersAdept in Microsoft programs, such as Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and WordExcellenttime management, self-management, and organization skillsStrong written, oral, and interpersonal skills
