Closures Mechanism Engineer Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is looking for an engineer to join the
Mechanisms and Sealing Team of Closures Engineering Design The Team:
Closures Engineering Design is a collaborative and innovation-driven team at a leading automotive company. As part of Closures Engineering Design, one would work closely with a diverse group of designers, testers, and manufacturing engineers in an environment that rewards initiative, technical excellence, and professional growth.
The Position:
The Closures Mechanism Engineer would support design, development, and release efforts concerning front and rear closures mechanism and mechatronic parts and systems (e.g., hood, trunk lid, manual mechanisms, power mechanisms, etc.) for Hyundai, Genesis, and Kia NA vehicles
What You Will Do:
Perform design-releasing duties for North American-based vehicle projects and manage BOMsCreate and modify 3D data and 2D drawings viaCATIA V5 and other engineering toolsEstimate and create cost/mass targets for components/partsInvestigate quality, assembly obstacles, and durability issues, and suggest engineering improvements to mitigate future issuesSupport and interface with other engineering and design functions concerning vehicle development effortsReview part/system performance and regulatory testingParticipate in benchmarking activities for future product development opportunitiesLiaise between North American affiliates and Korean headquartersRecommend engineering improvements on assessed field claims, customer feedback, and other sources of vehicle feedbackStudy and interpret industry regulatory requirements and performance standardsSupport the advanced development of closure mechanism systems and components for future vehiclesLearn best practices, design requirements, and how to manage projects from senior engineersRemain current with emerging technologies and trends of closures mechanism and mechatronic parts and systemsTravel up to 20% of the time, both domestically and internationally What You Will Bring to the
Role:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field0-7 years of professional experience in closure mechanismsAdept at using CAD and 3D design software
CATIA V5
experience highly preferred, but not required
CATIA V5
training will be provided in-houseFamiliarity with part and assembly Datum schemes and dimensional tolerance applicationAbility to explain technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersProficiency in Microsoft programs, such as Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and WordAn ability to prepare reports/spreadsheets (when needed) to support project-related workExcellenttime management, self-management, and organization skillsStrong written, oral, and interpersonal skillsStrong problem-solving skillsAbility to diagnose complex issues (e.g., failure analysis) and develop robust solutions under tight timelines and in cooperation with adjacent teamsWillingness to attend training sessions, workshops, or conferences to enhance skills and knowledgeValid Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record
