Full Job Description Product Designer:
The Product Designer works within the Creative Services Department, as a team contributor of original visual and merchandise designs for Lionel Trains. Lionel's Product Designer participates in all aspects of the product development design process including, but not limited to - historical research, ideation, proofing, and final print-ready preparation. The ideal candidate should be an analytical and creative designer who has a passion for trains. The Product Designer should also possess excellent communication skills; with the ability to deliver high-quality assets that support our brand direction and vision. S/he should be comfortable dealing with ambiguity and pedestrian design requests. This position is an integral part of the Creative Services Department and will work under the direction of the Lead Product Designer to provide completed designs as described in the following:
Responsibilities:
Utilizing Adobe Creative Cloud, primarily through Illustrator, to design various train related product for manufacturing. Utilizing Adobe Creative Cloud, primarily through Photoshop, virtualize final designs into realistic marketable images for print and digital collateral. Perform retouching and manipulation of photographic imagery. Develop and layout all necessary supplementary material, such as product instructional manuals.
  • Ensure projects are completed with accuracy, high quality, and on schedule.
  • Become knowledgeable and the leading expert of licensed design specifications and requirements.
  • Collaborate with other members of Creative Services, Production, and various licensors as necessary.
  • Contributing to team efforts by accomplishing all other tasks and duties as needed
  • Perform related duties and activities as assigned, within the scope of Lionel's business model.
Skills/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, illustration, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience as a product designer or graphic designer
  • Excellent proficiency in the Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop and Illustrator); as well as basic skill in Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook
  • Strong creative thinking skills with experience in original design concepts and the ability to interpret subject matter from photographs, written creative requests, and mechanical drawings (Knowledge of various production processes a plus)
  • Exceptional attention to details with a strong flexibility creating designs consistent within specific aesthetic requirements.
  • Organizational skills: including the ability to prioritize numerous projects simultaneously in a high energy, fast paced environment reacting to changes quickly; with a 'can-do' attitude.
  • Proactive, strong team and individual work ethics with the ability to self-motivate.
  • Dedication in one's role and flexibility in adapting to changing direction, priorities and tasks as assigned.
  • Ability to give and receive constructive criticism.
  • Basic analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Solid written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must have compelling portfolio of work over a wide range of relevant creative projects & designs
Pay:
$51,833.92 - $62,423.65 per year
