Senior Principal Mechanical Architect From applied research to advanced engineering, the Engineering Technologist team has the expertise to shape ground-breaking products, material and processes. What you'll achieve: As a Senior Principal Mechanical Architect , you'll have the responsibility of establishing product mechanical requirements, engineering the product to meet those requirements and validate that the product meets those requirements. This involves working with internal development teams and external suppliers and development partners to develop innovative mechanical solutions for PCs, particularly notebooks, using leading-edge engineering software, tools and processes. Additional responsibilities include ensuring the products meet design targets in areas such as quality, feature set, cost, schedule, reliability, acoustics, regulatory and safety. The mechanical architect will be responsible for mechanical architecture, component and system-level specifications, creating and directing CAD models, interpreting test data, and status reporting for assigned team projects. The mechanical architect will also be responsible for driving other's including external suppliers and development partners to deliver robust mechanical solutions.
You will:
Lead the design, analysis, documentation, and validation of mechanical components, assemblies and assigned product platforms Develop and test mechanical prototypes, conducting analysis, debugging, and engineering validation to ensure product performance and reliability Collaborate cross-functionally with suppliers and teams including electrical engineering, manufacturing, quality, marketing, and industrial design to support successful product development Apply advanced engineering tools and methodologies to create innovative solutions for complex mechanical design challenges Manage mechanical tooling, qualification processes, and product deliverables, ensuring program milestones, schedules, and quality requirements are achieved Take the first step towards your dream career Every Dell Technologies team member brings something unique to the table. Essential Requirements:
Shape the future product roadmap by providing mechanical and thermal engineering expertise, guiding the architecture of next-generation mobile commercial products Evaluate features, performance, and cost trade-offs to drive optimized product design decisions that meet business and customer objectives Partner with marketing, design, and cross-functional teams to identify emerging technologies, develop proof-of-concepts, and ensure implementation readiness Lead the incubation, development, prototyping, and promotion of innovative mechanical concepts and designs that align with customer and market requirements Engage and influence ODMs and technology partners to solve complex challenges, translate customer needs into solutions, and generate intellectual property (IP) that protects innovation and competitive advantage
Desirable Requirements:
Typically requires 12+ years of related experience in a professional role with a Bachelor's degree; or 8+ years with a Master's degree; or 5+ years with a PhD; or equivalent experience Ability to assess and optimize the tradeoffs between thermal, mechanical, and electrical features Compensation Dell is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices.
