Product Design Associate - Bicycle & Electric Bicycle Products Full‑Time | On‑Site |
Plano, TX Experience Required:
Minimum 2 Years Position Overview The Product Design Associate supports the end‑to‑end design and development of next‑generation bicycles and electric bicycles. This role blends industrial design, mechanical understanding, and user‑centric problem‑solving to create products that are safe, durable, visually compelling, and aligned with market trends in personal mobility. You will collaborate with product managers, engineers, suppliers, and testing teams to bring concepts from sketch to production‑ready designs. This is an on‑site role to ensure hands‑on prototyping, rapid iteration, and close coordination with cross‑functional teams. Key Responsibilities Product Design & Development Create 2D/3D concepts, sketches, CAD models, and renderings for bicycles and e‑bikes. Support frame geometry development, component integration, and ergonomic studies. Assist in designing plastic, metal, and composite components (e.g., frames, forks, housings, mounts, accessories). Participate in prototyping, fit checks, and functional testing. Technical & Engineering Collaboration Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, and BOM inputs for engineering and manufacturing. Work with suppliers to refine manufacturability, cost, and quality. Support testing protocols for durability, safety, and compliance. Market & User Insight Research competitive products, emerging mobility trends, and user needs. Contribute to color, material, and finish (CMF) direction for product lines. Assist in packaging, branding, and visual merchandising design as needed. Cross‑Functional Support Collaborate with product managers on feature requirements and design feasibility. Participate in design reviews, sprint cycles, and project planning. Maintain organized design files, documentation, and version control. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Mechanical Design, or related field. Minimum 2 years of product design experience , ideally in consumer products, sporting goods, mobility, or mechanical hardware. Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Creo, or similar). Strong portfolio demonstrating physical product design, mechanical understanding, and aesthetic sensibility. Experience with prototyping tools (3D printing, foam modeling, rapid prototyping). Familiarity with bicycle components, geometry, or e‑mobility systems is a strong plus. Ability to work on‑site and collaborate in a fast‑paced, hands‑on environment. Preferred Skills Knowledge of bicycle standards (ISO, CPSC) and safety testing. Understanding of e‑bike systems (motors, batteries, controllers). Experience with CMF development and consumer product branding. Ability to communicate clearly with overseas suppliers and manufacturing partners.
