This role is the engine of project execution — independently driving design packages from concept through procurement while working closely with Lead Designers and collaborating across the firm. The ideal candidate brings strong creative instincts, deep sourcing knowledge, and the organizational discipline to manage multiple projects without losing a single thread. You'll own your work end to end — from translating a design vision into fully developed drawings and specifications, to sourcing materials, managing purchase orders, and ensuring every detail lands exactly right for the client. Responsibilities Translate design visions into fully developed design packages — drawings, specifications, presentation boards, and renderings — across residential projects Research, source, and document materials, furnishings, and finishes; own pricing for items you personally source Prepare construction and permit drawings under Lead Designer direction Present design selections — fabrics, furniture, materials — to clients alongside the Lead Designer Manage procurement: review purchase orders before vendor release, track orders from placement through delivery and storage, and resolve vendor acknowledgment discrepancies Complete and maintain Finish Schedules and add material spec sheets to Materio Enter specifications into the project system and keep vendor and pricing documentation organized Update open PO statuses and lead times on a semi-monthly basis Mentor Junior Designers on research, samples, and documentation Participate in semi-monthly project scheduling meetings and contribute to improving firm-wide design processes Minimum Requirements Strong alignment with our company core values, mission, and standards Bachelor's degree in Interior Design and Architecture 3-5 years of professional interior design experience, with a focus on high-end residential projects Proven ability to independently manage full design packages from concept through construction documentation Strong sourcing skills and an established network of vendors and trade resources Experience managing procurement — purchase orders, lead times, vendor follow-up, and delivery coordination Proficiency in design software: CAD drafting, rendering tools, and specification/project management platforms Ability to read and produce construction drawings, permit sets, and detailed elevations Exceptional organizational skills — able to track multiple projects, deadlines, and open orders simultaneously Clear, professional communication with clients, vendors, and internal team members Comfortable mentoring junior staff while executing your own project work independently Why Join JDS Design Build?
