Senior Interior Designer - Luxury Residential Kendall Wilkinson Design | San Francisco, CA Full-Time | On-Site Kendall Wilkinson Design is seeking an experienced Senior Interior Designer to join its San Francisco studio. This is an opportunity for an accomplished designer with a strong background in high-end residential interiors to lead sophisticated projects from concept through installation while working alongside one of the Bay Area's most respected luxury residential designers. Location & Commute Requirement This is a full-time, on-site position based at Kendall Wilkinson Design's studio at: 3419 Sacramento Street San Francisco, CA 94118 Candidates must currently live within approximately a 30-minute commute of the studio and have reliable transportation and access to a personal vehicle. This position requires a consistent in-office presence Monday through Friday, with time outside the studio for client meetings, job sites, showrooms, design centers, and installations. The Role The Senior Interior Designer will lead complex luxury residential projects from initial concept through final installation. This person will serve as a key client-facing design lead while collaborating closely with Kendall, the internal design team, architects, contractors, artisans, vendors, and fabricators. The ideal candidate combines an exceptional design eye with strong technical capabilities, organization, project leadership, and an understanding of the level of service required when working with discerning luxury residential clients. Key Responsibilities Lead high-end residential projects from concept and design development through construction and installation Develop overall design concepts, space plans, furniture plans, finish selections, specifications, and presentations Serve as a primary point of contact for clients and project partners Produce and oversee detailed AutoCAD drawing sets, elevations, reflected ceiling plans, millwork drawings, finish schedules, and specifications Design and develop custom furniture, cabinetry, millwork, and other bespoke elements Source furniture, lighting, fabrics, finishes, antiques, art, accessories, and materials Coordinate with architects, contractors, consultants, vendors, showrooms, artisans, and fabricators Review shop drawings, samples, submittals, and custom fabrication details Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, deliverables, and competing priorities Oversee procurement and coordinate installations Maintain accurate project documentation and specifications Mentor and provide direction to junior designers while collaborating closely with the broader design team Ensure every project reflects the firm's design standards and commitment to exceptional client service Qualifications 8+ years of interior design experience, with significant experience in high-end/luxury residential design Portfolio demonstrating sophisticated residential interiors and projects completed from concept through installation Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Proficiency in SketchUp Experience with Studio Designer strongly preferred Strong FF&E experience, including furniture, fabrics, lighting, finishes, sourcing, custom pieces, and specifications Experience with renovations, ground-up residences, and comprehensive furnishing projects Strong knowledge of construction documentation, custom millwork, furnishings, finishes, and fabrication Experience working directly with high-net-worth clients Strong client-facing communication and presentation skills Excellent project-management and organizational abilities Experience mentoring or leading junior designers Familiarity with Bay Area trade resources, showrooms, vendors, craftspeople, and fabricators is a plus Please note: This role is specifically focused on luxury residential interior design. Candidates whose experience is primarily architectural or technical architecture without significant hands-on interiors, FF&E, sourcing, and furnishings experience may not be the right fit for this position.
