Job Description
Kennebunk, Maine | Full-Time | In-Person Hurlbutt Designs is seeking an experienced Interior Designer / Project Designer to join one of coastal Maine's premier high-end residential design studios. Located in Kennebunk, Maine, our firm is known for its refined aesthetic, sophisticated residential projects, and enduring client relationships. This role is ideal for a designer who combines strong creative instincts with excellent organization, project management, and client communication skills. The designer will work within a talented, close-knit team while taking ownership of assigned projects and responsibilities. What You'll Do Work on residential design projects from concept through installation Develop furniture layouts, specifications, sourcing, finish selections, and client presentations Manage project details, timelines, approvals, and vendor coordination Communicate regularly with clients, vendors, contractors, and internal team members Participate in client meetings and site visits Track selections, pricing, orders, and outstanding project decisions Help resolve project issues proactively and professionally Collaborate with senior designers, design assistants, interns, and the installation team Take ownership of assigned projects and project responsibilities What We're Looking For 4+ years of professional interior design experience Strong organizational and project management skills Good design judgment and close attention to detail Confidence communicating with clients and presenting design recommendations Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Comfortable collaborating within an established creative direction Calm, accountable, and solutions-oriented Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented studio environment Availability to meet with clients at our Studio on weekends as needed Preferred Qualifications Experience in high-end residential design Familiarity with Design Manager, MyDoma, Studio Designer, or similar software Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, or comparable design tools Experience coordinating with vendors, workrooms, contractors, and installers Knowledge of custom furniture, fabrics, window treatments, lighting, and finishes Compensation and Benefits $30-$36 per hour, depending on experience Full-time position Benefits Paid time off In-person work in our Kennebunk studio Travel to project sites as needed
