Interior Designer Job Description This role seeks an experienced Interior Designer with 5-10 years of professional experience in commercial or corporate interiors, particularly corporate office spaces ranging from 10,000 to 20,000 square feet. You will take projects from concept through construction, contributing to design development, documentation, coordination, and overall project delivery. The position offers a clear growth path into a Project Manager role, with increasing responsibility for client communication, team leadership, and project execution. Responsibilities Lead and support interior design projects for corporate office interiors ranging from 10,000 to 20,000 square feet, from initial concept through construction completion. Develop design concepts, space plans, and interior layouts that align with client needs, project goals, and building constraints. Produce detailed design and production documentation using Revit and AutoCAD, including construction documents (CD sets) and related drawings. Collaborate closely with project teams and clients throughout design development, documentation, and coordination phases to ensure cohesive project delivery. Support and participate in construction administration activities, helping to address field conditions, respond to RFIs, and review submittals as needed. Create and refine 3D models and renderings, including the use of SketchUp and other tools, to communicate design intent to clients and stakeholders. Contribute to the design and documentation of government integrator and secure facility (SCIFF) projects within a broader portfolio of work. Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and other project partners to ensure accurate, buildable, and code-compliant documentation. Assist in preparing presentations and materials for client meetings, design reviews, and internal coordination sessions. Engage in regular communication with clients to understand project requirements, present design solutions, and respond to feedback. Take on increasing responsibility for project organization, scheduling, and task management as you progress toward a Project Manager role. Mentor and support junior team members by providing guidance on design, documentation, and project processes. Participate actively in studio culture, including team events, informal design discussions, and knowledge sharing. Essential Skills 5-10 years of professional experience in interior design, with a focus on commercial and/or corporate interiors. College degree in Interior Design or Architecture. Proficiency in Revit for design, documentation, and production support. Proficiency in AutoCAD for design and production documentation. Demonstrated experience in space planning for corporate office interiors. Experience working on corporate interior projects in the 10,000-20,000 square foot range. Ability to take a project from concept through construction, including design development, documentation, and coordination. Experience producing complete construction document (CD) sets. Experience with construction administration processes and coordination. Strong interior design skills, including an eye for detail, materials, finishes, and overall design quality. Effective collaboration skills for working closely with project teams and clients. Clear interest and aptitude for growing into a Project Manager role, including client communication, team leadership, and project execution. Additional Skills & Qualifications LEED Certification is a plus. Experience with rendering tools and workflows to visually communicate design concepts. Experience with SketchUp for 3D modeling and visualization. Experience in government integrator and secure facility (SCIFF) projects is beneficial. Interest in pursuing CID and advancing toward Associate or Project Management roles. Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for client interaction and team coordination. Work Environment The role is based in a downtown Baltimore office located on the waterfront in Fells Point, offering beautiful views and a vibrant urban setting. The position follows a hybrid work model, with 1-3 days per week in the office; the second Monday of every month is a required in-office day. The studio culture is described as strong and supportive, with very low turnover and a clear emphasis on professional growth and advancement, including opportunities to move into Associate or Project Management roles after obtaining CID. The firm maintains a broad portfolio, while this studio focuses on government integrators and secure facility work, providing exposure to complex and impactful projects. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Baltimore, MD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $43.27 - $50.48/hr.
