Company Description Since 1996, S-Squared has been a trusted Bay Area design firm known for innovative thinking, exceptional service, and efficient execution. With all design disciplines—architecture, interiors, landscape, and furnishings offered in-house, the firm delivers a seamless, holistic process that transforms complex constraints into cohesive, beautifully executed homes. Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role for an Interior Designer (Interior Design Manager) based in San Jose, California. The position is responsible for leading the interior design of custom residential projects and coordinating with clients, the design team, consultants, and contractors. The Interior Design Manager will lead space planning and design concept development, creating functional, thoughtful, and highly customized interiors. They will also be responsible for the interior 3D modeling (Sketchup), and CAD coordinations, as well as FFE presentations, and managing budgets. This position is suited for a designer who combines strong creative vision with technical rigor, clear communication, and a collaborative mindset within a multidisciplinary, in-house studio environment. Qualifications & Skills Minimum 5 years in residential interior design, required Experience with client presentation, and client facing work Demonstrates strong emotional intelligence, self awareness, and the ability to regulate responses in a high pressure or ambiguous situation Receives feedback with openness and curiosity Able to balance client desires with design integrity, budget realities, and technical constraints Builds trust through consistency, follow-through, and clear expectations Contributes positively to team culture and understands their role within a larger, multidisciplinary firm Innovative design skills and knowledge of vendors and materials Lead multiple residential projects of varying complexities, styles, and sizes Excellent time management skills and able to effectively work under time pressure Expert use of AutoCAD, Sketchup/Layout.
