This role requires a balance of creative design, technical project management, and a "customer-first" mentality. You will work directly with homeowners, contractors, builders, and more to turn functional needs and aspirational visions into beautifully designed realities. You will take ownership of the entire process—consulting with customers on their styles and wishlists, creating precise drawings and 3D renderings, and managing projects through to successful installation and completion. As one of the founding team members of our new showroom, the Lead Designer will have a unique opportunity to influence showroom displays, design center strategy, and overall customer experience. The Lead Designer will partner with the GM for design reviews and have access to—and the support of—the entire network of designers across all The Designery locations nationwide. This role offers the chance to help shape the future of the business rather than simply operate in an existing environment. The Designery will actively invest in marketing, community outreach, and lead generation while designers help cultivate referral relationships and business opportunities. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Collaborate deeply : Work closely with all client types to understand vision, provide expert design advice, and deliver tailored recommendations. Deliver value : Deliver comprehensive proposals that deliver maximum value to the client, including cabinetry, countertops, flooring, tile, services and more. Manage meaningfully : Manage the full project lifecycle—from initial concept and quoting through final installation with trades and contractors—ensuring all deadlines and quality standards are met. Outreach proactively : Develop and nurture relationships with homeowners, contractors, builders, and trade professionals to generate new project opportunities and referrals. Communicate constantly : Maintain clear and consistent contact with clients, contractors, and employees throughout the project to ensure expectations are managed and timelines stay on track. Track performance metrics : Maintain organized project documentation and provide regular updates on sales targets and project status to the leadership team. Qualifications 5+ years of kitchen and bath design using 2020 or ProKitchen design software. Closet design experience a plus. A natural comfort working and speaking with people of all backgrounds and a proactive mindset. Comfortable following up on leads and reaching out to potential clients and trade partners to help grow the business. Comfortable learning and leveraging modern technology and AI-enabled tools to improve customer experience, productivity, and project outcomes. Strong eye for creative design and ideation and a genuine passion for the industry. Strong verbal and written skills to articulate complex design concepts in an easy-to-understand manner with clients, contractors and installers on job sites. A polished, professional, and executive presence with all clients in the showroom and across every interaction, and a helpful, collaborative attitude focused on continuous improvement. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to keep multiple projects moving forward at the same time. Work Environment Highly welcoming, modern showroom and design center. Professional, entrepreneurial environment. Client‑facing role in the showroom and occasionally in customer homes or job sites. Highly collaborative and community environment. We will host community events from time to time. What does success look like? Success in this role means creating exceptional client experiences, generating strong design sales, building lasting referral relationships, and helping establish The Designery as a premier kitchen, bath, and closet destination in Middle Tennessee. Compensation & Benefits Competitive compensation : Competitive base salary (DOE) plus commission. Compensation is designed to reward performance and business growth, with strong earning potential for experienced, motivated designers. Total compensation structure will be discussed during the interview process. Work-Life balance : Enjoy Paid Time Off (PTO) and Paid Holidays to ensure you have time to recharge.
