Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Designer & Business Development professional to join our creative team. This role combines artistic expertise with strategic growth initiatives, driving the development of captivating architectural and interior designs while expanding our client base and market presence. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for design excellence, a keen eye for detail, and a proactive approach to cultivating new business opportunities. This paid position offers an exciting chance to shape inspiring spaces and contribute to the growth of a forward-thinking design firm. Duties Develop compelling architectural and interior design concepts using CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, 3ds Max, Rhinoceros 3D, and Adobe Creative Suite. Create detailed construction documentation and building information modeling (BIM) to ensure accurate project execution. Produce high-quality renderings, 3D models, and presentations that effectively communicate design ideas to clients and stakeholders. Conduct building code analysis and ensure all designs meet local building regulations and safety standards. Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, coordinating with clients, contractors, and team members to meet deadlines and budgets. Assist in client communication by presenting design proposals, incorporating feedback, and fostering strong professional relationships. Support business development efforts by identifying new project opportunities, preparing proposals, and engaging in marketing initiatives such as portfolio updates and networking events. Contribute to residential interior design projects including remodeling, renovation, lighting design, and space planning with attention to detail and aesthetic appeal. Collaborate on construction detail documentation to facilitate smooth project execution from concept through completion. Maintain organized project files, contracts, budgets, and schedules to ensure seamless workflow across all phases of design and development. Required Experience in kitchen and bath or custom cabinetry design, or closely related residential design and sales experience. Genuine comfort with business development — you can start a conversation with a builder you have never met and you do not need to be talked into picking up the phone. Proficiency with cabinetry or CAD design software, and the ability to become proficient in Cabinet Vision quickly. Real creativity. High-end clients are not looking for the layout they have seen in every other lake home, and this role has to bring ideas they did not know to ask for. Strong space planning skill and an eye for detail that holds up in a high-end home. Polish with a sophisticated audience. You will sit across from architects, interior designers, and homeowners who are used to being dealt with well. The ability to read people and adjust. A production builder, a boutique architect, and a hands-on homeowner each need something different from you and recognizing which one you are with is a core skill here. Comfort selling value over price. If your instinct in a tough conversation is to discount, this is not the right seat. Discipline with systems and process. This role lives in an ERP, and accurate records are part of the job, not an afterthought. Excellent written and verbal communication. We hold a 24-hour maximum response standard for every client, partner, and internal message. Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation. You will drive the territory. The self-management to run two jobs at once without letting either quietly slide. Preferred Existing relationships with builders, architects, or interior designers in northern Wisconsin. Experience selling to or working with high-end residential builders and second-home clients. Cabinet Vision experience specifically. NKBA certification or equivalent industry credential. Familiarity with the Northwoods market and its seasonal construction rhythm. Join us if you're eager to blend artistic vision with strategic business growth! This role offers an energetic environment where your innovative ideas will shape inspiring spaces while expanding our reach in the industry. We value motivated professionals who thrive on collaboration and continuous learning—ready to make a lasting impact through exceptional design solutions!
