Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into an impactful role supporting an elementary student as a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter. This on-site contract position is located near Harvest, AL, and focuses on providing one-on-one interpreting services within a school environment. You'll work closely with students and staff to ensure equal access to communication, fostering an inclusive and engaging educational experience.
Qualifications:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) Experience, or strong interest, in working with elementary-aged children in an academic setting Ability to facilitate clear communication between students, staff, and peers Understanding of confidentiality and ethical standards related to interpreting in schools Flexibility and adaptability to meet varying student and classroom needs
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver one-on-one sign language interpreting services to assigned student throughout the school day Accurately translate classroom instruction, discussions, and all relevant school activities Collaborate with teachers and school staff to support instructional goals Assist with social interactions, conferences, and extracurricular activities requiring interpretation Maintain professional relationships, respecting privacy and confidentiality at all times
