Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact by providing dedicated sign language interpretation for an elementary student in a supportive school environment. This position is based on-site, ensuring direct engagement with both students and staff. You'll work one-on-one, facilitating effective communication for a young learner and collaborating closely with educators to promote inclusion and academic success.
Key Qualifications:
Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter or equivalent credential required Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Experience interpreting within educational settings, preferably at the elementary level Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and exhibit professionalism at all times Flexible mindset and commitment to supporting students with unique needs
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one ASL interpretation for an elementary student during class activities, special programs, and school interactions Assist teachers and school staff in creating accessible learning experiences Adapt interpreting methods to match the student's learning style and classroom demands Foster an inclusive educational environment by bridging communication between the student, peers, and staff Maintain accurate records of interpreting services and student progress as directed Participate in team meetings and collaborate on strategies for student engagement and development Enjoy a consistent weekly schedule, with approximately 37.5 hours per week, all within a welcoming school dedicated to student success.
