Job Description

Category Schools - Interpreter Job Type Contract An exciting opportunity awaits for a skilled professional passionate about supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. This full-time contract Educational Interpreter position offers the chance to make a real impact in an academic environment for the 2026-2027 school year. You'll provide essential communication support for students, working closely with educators and specialists to foster an inclusive and accessible learning experience. The role is scheduled for 35 hours per week, spanning from August 6, 2026, through May 27, 2027, in a welcoming educational setting.
Qualifications and Experience:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and interpreting in educational environments Experience as an Educational Interpreter, Teacher for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, or Hearing Impaired Specialist Familiarity with the needs of D/HH students in K-12 settings Ability to work collaboratively with classroom teachers and staff Relevant certification or state credentials required for educational interpreters
Responsibilities:
Provide accurate voice-to-sign and sign-to-voice interpreting for students and staff during classroom instruction and school activities Facilitate communication between students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing and their peers, teachers, and school personnel Assist in individualized education plan (IEP) meetings as needed Adapt interpreting styles to align with student preferences and educational goals Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all interactions This role offers a rewarding full-time schedule in a school community that values inclusion and accessibility.
