Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact by supporting students in an educational setting as a Sign Language Interpreter. This full-time contract opportunity offers approximately 30 hours per week, with assignments available in both elementary and intermediate school settings. Your expertise will be instrumental in facilitating communication and enhancing educational experiences for deaf and hard of hearing students, as well as their peers and educators. The client is flexible, considering candidates with an EIPA score under 4.0 (referred to as ASL Para). Let us know your grade-level preference, and help foster inclusive classroom environments onsite.
Key Qualifications:
Certification by the National Registry of Interpreters of the Deaf or a score of 4.0+ on EIPA, ESSE-I/R, or
NAD/ACCI
assessment Candidates with EIPA under 4.0 are welcomed as ASL Paraeducators Proficiency in both sign to voice and voice to sign interpreting Experience working with students in academic and/or vocational settings preferred Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset Ability to support classroom learning, both academically and in life skills Willingness to work onsite with a dynamic team
Primary Responsibilities:
Facilitate effective communication for deaf/hard of hearing students and their peers, instructors, and staff Provide interpreting services in classroom and school-wide activities Assist students with academic subjects including reading, writing, and math Support students during classroom, outdoor, or community-based activities Collaborate with educational staff to promote inclusive learning This role is available immediately and offers a consistent schedule during the school year.
