Job Description

The County Executive Office of the County of Nevada, California, is seeking a temporary paid intern. Definition and Class Characteristics Under general direction, learn to perform increasing levels of service, administrative, and/or professional work in an assigned area by assisting in varied semi- or skilled labor projects or administrative or para-professional assignments. Perform routine service work, research, analysis and report writing or routine technical and professional work in a learning mode. This is a temporary classification which is at will. Incumbent retains no rights to regular status. Examples of Duties In an office environment: Assist in a variety of administrative tasks within various County departments Provide research assistance Collect and analyze data prepare correspondence and reports Perform routine work pertinent to the subject area to which assigned In a service environment:

Knowledge and Skills Required Knowledge of :
English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation; arithmetic and basic mathematical calculations Modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment Basic principles and practices used in the work of subject area to which assigned Skill in : On a continuous basis, sit at desk for long periods of time; know and understand the job and observe safety rules. Learn a variety of administrative and professional tasks Work with various community groups and age groups in a tactful and effective manner Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work Physical Demands and Working Conditions Mobility and manual dexterity to work in a standard office environment and use standard office equipment; vision to read handwritten and printed material and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and by telephone; ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 20 pounds such as files, books or boxes of paper for distances up to 50 feet.
