Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Make a difference each day by supporting communication and learning for hard of hearing and deaf students in school settings near Paradise, CA. This contract opportunity is perfect for experienced Sign Language Interpreters or professionals ready to contribute as ASL Paras, depending on certification level. With a growing need throughout the current and upcoming school years, you'll have the chance to facilitate engagement and inclusion at both elementary and intermediate school levels. Your preference for school setting can be considered.
Key Qualifications:
Certification by the National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, or an EIPA, ESSE-I/R, or
NAD/ACCI
assessment score of 4.0 or above Candidates with EIPA below 4.0 welcome (will be considered as ASL Paras) Experience supporting hard of hearing or deaf students in educational environments strongly valued Skillful in providing sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign interpreting Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities Understanding of academic support in reading, writing, and math
Responsibilities:
Facilitate seamless communication among students, teachers, and staff within the school environment Interpret classroom instructions and school activities between spoken English and American Sign Language Provide student support in academic areas as well as in vocational and independent living skills, as needed Supervise and assist students during classroom, outdoor, or community activities This full-time, on-site position offers consistent hours (approx. 30 hours/week, 6 hours/day) and the rewarding experience of making a genuine impact in students' lives.
