Job Description

Category Schools - Interpreter Job Type Contract An exciting opportunity awaits an Educational Interpreter with a passion for supporting deaf and hard of hearing students in a dynamic school setting. This full-time, contract position is designed for an enthusiastic professional skilled in facilitating effective communication and fostering an inclusive educational environment. You'll make a meaningful difference from August 6, 2026, through May 27, 2027, serving students in the area near San Bernardino, California.
Key Qualifications:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modes used by deaf/hard of hearing individuals Previous experience as an interpreter within educational or school settings Credentialing or certification as an Educational Interpreter, Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, or Hearing Impaired Specialist Familiarity with IEP processes and supporting students' academic accommodations Strong collaboration skills to work alongside educators, service providers, and families Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
Responsibilities:
Interpret spoken language for students who are deaf or hard of hearing during classes, activities, meetings, and school events Adapt communication style to meet individual student needs and promote engagement Support classroom teachers and staff in fostering an accessible learning environment Assist with the development and implementation of strategies and resources for students and staff Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, and staff development as required Maintain accurate logs of interpreting services delivered and contribute to student progress records
