Job Description

Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Step into an impactful role as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting students in an educational environment. This contract opportunity begins August 12, 2026, and continues through June 4, 2027, offering a consistent, onsite schedule of 35 hours per week. You will work directly with a K-12 student at a single school location, providing essential one-on-one interpreting services. The specific assignment will be tailored to your prior experience and personal preferences within the K-12 caseload.
Qualifications and Experience:
Active Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) certification and/or license in California EIPA score of 4.0 or higher Comfortable supporting students in a school-based setting Experience in K-12 educational interpreting preferred, but all qualified applicants will be considered
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver real-time sign language interpretation for a student, fostering accessible communication throughout the academic day Adapt to varying classroom content and age levels, ensuring clear and accurate translation Collaborate with educators, support staff, and families to provide an inclusive learning environment Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards of interpreting in an educational setting Participate in IEP meetings as needed and support student progress documentation
