Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Bring your expertise in sign language interpretation to an engaging in-person assignment supporting an elementary-aged student. Located near Aurora, this contract opportunity runs from August 2026 through May 2027 and offers a chance to make a profound difference in a young learner's educational journey.
Key Qualifications:
Hold an
EIPA 4.0
certification or higher Previous experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational environments, especially with elementary students Proficiency in American Sign Language and interpreting for varied learning needs Strong sense of professionalism, reliability, and adaptability in fast-paced school settings Capable of building effective rapport and trust with students, staff, and families Comfortable with on-site work exclusively
Responsibilities:
Provide direct 1:1 sign language interpretation for an elementary-aged student during school hours Accurately interpret classroom instructions, peer interactions, and school activities to ensure full participation and comprehension Collaborate with educators and support staff to tailor interpreting strategies to individual needs Foster an inclusive, positive, and encouraging classroom experience Maintain confidentiality and observe best practices per educational and privacy guidelines This is a full-time, on-site contract role for the 2026-27 school year, with standard school hours totaling 37.5 weekly.
