February 2026 POSITION SUMMARY - Describe general objectives. Include the purpose of the position, expected outcomes and results, and an overview of areas of accountability. The Family Liaison / Translator for Morgan County School District Re-3 facilitates communication among students, families, district personnel, and community partners to support students' social and academic success. This position is responsible for implementing the school's family engagement plan, increasing parent involvement, and strengthening positive, culturally responsive partnerships between home and school. The Family Liaison works to remove barriers to engagement, connect families with resources, and support a welcoming environment aligned with district goals and student achievement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Describe each of the basic functions and responsibilities of the job Builds and maintains positive, trusting relationships with students, families, staff, and community members to support student success; Provides outreach and communication to families regarding school programs, resources, and opportunities, ensuring information is accessible and culturally responsive; Serves as a liaison between families and school staff by facilitating communication, including translation and interpretation as needed, to support mutual understanding and problem-solving; Collaborates with community organizations and service providers to expand resources and support for students and families; Assists in aligning family engagement efforts and use of Title I funds with school and district Unified Improvement Plan (UIP) goals; Participates in staff meetings, professional development, and district trainings related to family engagement and student support; Assists in translation of IEP's, both written and verbal. Provide clear communication of IEP goals and services to support student success; Performs other duties as assigned to support student success and the mission of Morgan County School District Re-3.
MINIMUM EDUCATION OR FORMAL TRAINING

N/A PREFERRED EDUCATION, FORMAL TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
- Describe additional desired education or experience (above & beyond requirements) 2-year degree in education, social work, or equivalent relevant experience preferred; Experience in Community Service and Outreach preferred; Experience mentoring and advising students at all grade levels related to academic achievement preferred; Demonstrated biliteracy in Spanish and English, including the ability to read, write, and communicate professionally in both languages; Experience with at-risk and culturally diverse populations preferred.

- Describe specific knowledge and qualifications required for the job Ability to frequently travel among district facilities and into the community; Initiative and follow-through; Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills; Oral and written English language skills; Customer service, public relations, and interpersonal relations skills; Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job; Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions; Ability to use District computer systems for basic word processing, e-mail, and data entry, as well as record work hours and/or absences on District time management programs; Ability to maintain professional working relationships with all District staff and community members, and be part of a team; Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills; Ability to effectively communicate with parents, staff, and the community; Ability to maintain honesty and integrity in all aspects of the job; Ability and willingness to adhere to attendance requirements, including regular and punctual employee presence; Ability to promote and follow Morgan County School District's Board of Education policies, Superintendent policies, and building and department procedures; Ability to communicate, interact, and work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds; Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.
