Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Take on a rewarding contract opportunity as an ASL Language Facilitator and help support students' academic growth through sign language fluency. This full-time position (32.5 hours per week) runs from August 27th, 2026 through June 11th, 2027, with openings available for both a preschooler and a 5th grader in an inclusive and culturally diverse school environment near Bridgeport, CT. You will work in a 1:1 setting, providing not only direct ASL interpreting but also tutoring and individualized support to expand students' comprehension of class material and strengthen their ASL vocabulary.
Key Qualifications:
Fluent proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Prior experience in a school or educational setting is strongly preferred RID certification and/or EIPA scores are assets, but not required if you demonstrate strong fluency and interpreting skills Adaptable to different student needs, eager to work with diverse student populations Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills
Primary Responsibilities:
Facilitate clear, effective ASL communication between students and staff Support students' understanding of curriculum through tutoring and targeted vocabulary-building exercises Adapt instructional strategies to meet individual learning needs, ensuring full participation and engagement Maintain accurate documentation of progress and communicate with educational team members Attend team meetings and help foster an inclusive learning environment
