Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as an ASL Language Facilitator supporting students in a diverse, urban school community near Stamford, CT. These full-time roles (32.5 hours per week), running from August 27th, 2026 through June 11th, 2027, focus on facilitating access to education for one preschooler and one fifth-grade student. You'll work one-on-one, providing tutoring, ensuring comprehension, and fostering ASL vocabulary development. You will have the opportunity to collaborate closely with educators and specialists. Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) required Experience working in educational settings strongly preferred RID certification and/or EIPA score highly desirable but not mandatory Passion for supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing students Strong interpersonal skills and ability to adapt to individual student needs
Key Responsibilities:
Support students individually throughout the school day Facilitate comprehension of classroom material and lessons via ASL Build students' vocabulary and language fluency Adapt communication styles for both preschool and elementary age groups Work collaboratively with teaching staff, the Director, and Teacher of the Deaf Participate in ongoing communication and progress monitoring
