Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract A dynamic opportunity awaits for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support students in an elementary school environment near Fort Myers, FL. This contract position offers the chance to make a profound difference in the lives of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, working closely both one-on-one and in group settings. The assignment takes place at a dedicated elementary school site, focusing on fostering communication access and supporting inclusive education throughout the academic year.
Qualifications & Desired Background:
3.0 EIPA score or higher (required) Expertise in American Sign Language and interpreting in educational settings Experience supporting DHH students in primary or elementary grade levels is highly valued Up-to-date Florida fingerprint clearance, or eligibility via AHCA Clearinghouse Ability to complete and obtain a JLA badge upon clearance Professional, reliable, and able to maintain confidentiality
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver direct interpreting services for students in classroom and school activities Facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, and peers Adapt interpreting techniques for both 1:1 and group scenarios Collaborate with educators and other professionals to promote student success Maintain accurate records and uphold principles of ethical interpreting standards Enjoy the benefits of a consistent, full-time schedule with up to 37.5 hours per week, within a collaborative and supportive educational environment.
