EFFECTIVE DATE
Immediately General Description The Court Interpreter provides accurate and impartial translation services between English and Spanish in support of court proceedings and court-related functions. Responsibilities include interpreting legal proceedings such as first appearances, arraignments, hearings, pretrial conferences, and trials; providing sight translation and written translation of court-related documents; and facilitating meaningful access to the courts for individuals with limited English proficiency. Interpreters must maintain the highest standards of accuracy, confidentiality, and impartiality in accordance with applicable Florida Rules and professional standards. This position serves the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit and requires travel to court facilities throughout the circuit as needed. Education, Experience, Certifications and Special Requirements Education - Bachelor's degree in English, the source language, or a closely related field. Additional relevant experience may be substituted for the recommended educational level on a year-for-year basis. Experience - Two years of court / legal related work experience. Additional relevant education may substitute for the recommended experience on a year-for-year basis. Certification and Special Requirements - Applicants must possess either Certification as a Court Interpreter issued by the Office of the State Courts Administrator (OSCA); or current designation as a Provisionally Approved Court Interpreter by OSCA.
