As a freelance professional, you will provide essential interpretation services that ensure understanding and compliance while supporting the needs of Spanish-speaking individuals and families. Responsibilities Provide accurate oral interpretation between Spanish-speaking clients and professionals in various settings such as hospitals, clinics, social work offices, and child protective services. Translate written documents, medical records, and case notes from Spanish to English and vice versa with precision and cultural sensitivity. Interpret complex medical terminology, legal language, and social service documentation to ensure clarity and comprehension for all parties involved. Maintain strict adherence to confidentiality protocols, including HIPAA regulations, safeguarding sensitive health information at all times. Assist in documentation review and ensure proper record-keeping for medical records, social work reports, and other official documents. Support communication efforts by interpreting during meetings, interviews, assessments, and emergency situations with professionalism and empathy. Collaborate with healthcare providers, social workers, legal teams, and other stakeholders to facilitate effective communication that respects cultural nuances. Requirements Fluency in both Spanish and English with exceptional interpretation skills; proficiency in American Sign Language is a plus. Demonstrated experience in translation or interpretation within healthcare or social service environments. Knowledge of medical terminology, child protective services procedures, and hospital operations. Familiarity with HIPAA compliance standards and confidentiality requirements related to medical records and social work documentation. Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly and empathetically across diverse audiences. Bilingual capability with excellent listening skills, cultural awareness, and sensitivity to client needs.
