Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Make an impact as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting an 8th-grade student in a dynamic school environment on a full-time contract basis. Your expertise will be essential in facilitating communication and fostering a positive learning experience for a young learner. This unique opportunity allows you to work directly with students, collaborate with dedicated educators, and contribute to a fully inclusive educational setting.
Qualifications:
National or state certification in Sign Language Interpretation (or equivalent credentials) Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English Previous experience working in a school or similar educational setting is highly desirable Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism Compassionate, patient, and responsive to young learners
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one sign language interpretation services for an 8th-grade student throughout the school day Facilitate clear and accurate communication between student, teachers, staff, and peers Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and extracurricular activities as needed Collaborate with school personnel to optimize the learning experience and adapt communication methods Support the student's academic and social development by encouraging participation and engagement Maintain accurate and timely documentation as required by the school
