Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter - Telehealth Job Type Contract A contract opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter specializing in telehealth services within an educational setting. This role supports communication access for students and staff requiring American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation in a school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide accurate and effective sign language interpretation during telehealth sessions and in-person educational activities. Facilitate clear communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and educators, healthcare providers, and other school personnel. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards related to interpreting in educational and healthcare contexts. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless communication support aligned with students' individual needs. Stay informed about best practices in sign language interpreting, particularly in telehealth platforms.
Qualifications and Experience:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated interpreting experience in educational or healthcare settings. Prior experience in telehealth interpreting for schools or clinical environments is highly desirable. Strong understanding of ethical codes, confidentiality, and professional interpreting standards. Ability to adapt interpreting methods to both remote and in-person contexts. Strong communication, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
