Description:
Georgia Safari Conservation Park offers exclusive, behind-the-scenes touring experiences where guests connect with wildlife up close. As a Seasonal Conservation Interpreter, I- Safari Tours , you will lead guests on immersive and educational journeys, such as guided safaris. As a Park Ambassador, your primary responsibility is to ensure each guest receives an exceptional and unforgettable experience, leaving with a deeper understanding and appreciation of wildlife and conservation.
Essential Duties, Skills, and Responsibilities:
Lead safari tours on the Guided safari programs only providing insightful commentary on the animals, their habitats, behaviors, and conservation efforts in the wild. Interact with visitors, answering questions, and providing information about the Park's animal inhabitants, conservation programs, and educational initiatives. Prioritize the safety and well-being of guests, ensuring that they adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations during the tour. Safely operate and navigate the safari truck, ensuring the comfort and enjoyment of guests while adhering to established driving and safety protocols. Promote environmental awareness and the importance of wildlife conservation to guests and supporting the Park's mission to inspire in others a greater understanding, appreciation, and connection to the natural world. Provide excellent customer service by being approachable, friendly, and accommodating to guest needs, including those with special requests or requirements.
Additional Duties, Skills & Responsibilities:
  • Impeccable guest service and public speaking skills.
  • Valid driver's license with a proven clean driving record.
  • Ability to work outside in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Knowledge of animal facts and natural history and passion for sharing this knowledge in a fun and respectful manner (training provided)
  • Ability to interpret animal behavior and safely guide the public around animals during tours (training provided).
  • A Passion for people, wildlife, conservation, and environmental education.
  • Ability to safely operate a variety of safari touring vehicles.
  • Ability to lift 40lbs unassisted, navigate uneven ground, bend over , drive and ride in off-road vehicles, work in all weather conditions including extreme temperatures, etc. as the job requires.
  • Regular and dependable attendance
  • Assist Animal Care team as needed in various areas.
  • Assist various Park guest services teams as needed
  • Sound decision making and ability to adapt as situations arise
  • Work scheduled weekends, holidays, special events and variable work weeks as needed.
Education and Pre-Requisites:
  • A Passion for people, wildlife, conservation, and environmental education.
  • Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to engage and connect with a diverse audience.
  • Knowledge of the Park's animal collection, conservation efforts, and educational programs (training will be provided).
  • Must be physically capable of operating the safari vehicles and performing tours in various weather conditions year-round. (training will be provided on all vehicles)
  • CPR and first-aid certification (or willingness to obtain it).
  • Valid driver's license with a proven clean driving record.
  • Previous experience as a conservation interpreter, naturalist, educator (formal and informal) or public speaking experience is preferred.
  • Must reside within a 1-hr commute to the Park.
  • Bachelor's degree in biology, conservation, interpretation, education or related field preferred OR an equivalent combination of training and/or experience required.
  • Must submit to a background check, and must have a valid, current driver's license.
  • Must have a High School diploma or GED.

Visual, Hearing and Communication Requirements:
Requires corrected vision and hearing to within normal range, with or without reasonable accommodation. Must be able to communicate effectively in verbal and written form with all levels of personnel within and outside of the organization.
Environmental Conditions:
Working in an outdoor environment. Working conditions may be noisy with fluctuating indoor and/or outdoor temperatures. May be exposed to a risk of bodily injury through contact with moving instrumentation, substances, and other conditions common to an office or Safari Park environment. Subject to exposure to animals or guests which may have the potential for physical aggression. May be exposed to a risk of bodily injury through contact with moving instrumentation, toxic substances, bodily fluids, animal attack, communicable diseases, outdoor weather conditions and other conditions common in a Safari Park environment. Subject to unpleasant odors. May be exposed to wet/humid/sunny conditions.
Pressure Conditions:
Outdoor work environment, subject to varying weather conditions. Requires standing, walking, and operating a safari truck for extended periods. Flexible work hours, including weekends, holidays, and special events.
Schedule:
The Park operates seven (7) days a week and will require flexibility of scheduling employees. 4 days of 10-hour shifts Day shift and Special Event Evenings Holidays Weekend availability
