Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Support educational success in an adaptive classroom by utilizing your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter. Work directly with a high school student who uses a wheelchair and requires comprehensive communication services in a welcoming and inclusive school setting. This is an onsite, contract opportunity for the 2026-2027 academic year with a consistent 37.5-hour workweek.
Key Qualifications:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated experience interpreting in an educational setting EIPA rating of 3.5 or higher (Candidates with lower scores can discuss eligibility) Experience supporting students with diverse physical and learning needs, especially in a special education environment Ability to collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to optimize student engagement Professionalism, reliability, and a compassionate approach to fostering student independence
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver in-person interpreting services for a high school student in an adaptive classroom Adapt sign language interpretation to meet the communication and curriculum needs of the individual student Collaborate with special education teachers and support personnel to provide comprehensive support Proactively facilitate understanding, participation, and accessibility during instructional and non-instructional activities Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards as required by the school system This contract role allows you to create a meaningful impact in students' educational journeys while developing your skills in a dynamic school setting.
