Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Make a direct impact by supporting an 8th grade student as a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter in a vibrant educational environment on a full-time contract assignment. Working closely with educators and staff, you'll provide essential communication access, allowing the student to fully participate in classroom activities and school life.
Key Qualifications:
Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiar with educational interpreting for middle school students. Possess certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (such as EIPA, RID, or state equivalent). Previous experience supporting students in a school setting is preferred. Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, teachers, and staff. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism within an academic environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver real-time sign language interpreting services in a variety of classroom and school-related settings for an 8th grade student. Collaborate with teaching staff to understand lesson plans and adapt interpreting strategies for different subjects. Clarify and facilitate classroom discussions, instructions, and peer interactions to promote student understanding and participation. Assist in bridging communication between the student, teachers, and peers to foster an inclusive educational experience. Maintain accurate records of interpreting assignments in accordance with school policies.
