Educational Interpreter - Savannah, Georgia Sunbelt Staffing - 3.8 Savannah, GA Job Details Full-time | Contract 19 hours ago Qualifications School experience Educational interpretation Interpretation American Sign Language Interpretation experience within education industry Full Job Description Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Make a meaningful difference serving students as a Sign Language Interpreter in an adaptive classroom setting. This contract position spans the academic year, providing direct support for a high school student who uses a wheelchair. Working onsite and collaborating closely with special education professionals, you'll facilitate access and communication, enriching the educational experience.
Qualifications & Experience:
Current Sign Language Interpreter credentials required EIPA score of 3.5 or above (please reach out regarding candidates with lower scores) Experience supporting students in special education/adaptive environments strongly preferred Ability to provide comprehensive interpreting services in an educational setting Skilled in both receptive and expressive American Sign Language (ASL) Professional and sensitive approach when working with students with physical challenges Dedicated to maintaining confidentiality and fostering an inclusive atmosphere
Responsibilities:
Deliver full-time onsite sign language interpreting services (no virtual option due to parent preference) Ensure clear, accurate interpretation to facilitate instruction, peer interactions, and participation in classroom activities Adapt communication to meet individual student needs, collaborating with teachers and special education staff Monitor and support student engagement, advocacy, and access throughout the school day Maintain regular documentation and communication as required This position offers an opportunity to leave a lasting impact by supporting a student's learning journey.
