Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into an influential role supporting students with exceptional needs as a Sign Language Interpreter for the upcoming academic year. This contract opportunity offers the chance to work onsite, providing direct support within an adaptive classroom environment for a high school student who utilizes a wheelchair. Your expertise will facilitate communication, ensuring access to curriculum and participation in all aspects of the school experience.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Proven proficiency as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings Valid EIPA score of 3.5 or higher Comfortable supporting students in wheelchairs and adaptive classroom environments Ability to provide comprehensive communication services in an onsite setting Professional certification as a Sign Language Interpreter Experience collaborating with Special Education Teachers a plus Strong teamwork and organizational skills Compassionate and adaptable approach to meeting individual student needs
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver sign language interpretation for a high school student in a specialized classroom Facilitate effective communication between the student, teachers, and classmates Collaborate with the Special Education team to support individual education goals Assist with adaptive materials or modifications as needed Ensure confidentiality and adhere to all school guidelines Promote student engagement and access to learning opportunities Attend meetings and training sessions as required Enjoy the fulfillment of working one-on-one in a supportive, professional educational environment over the school year.
