Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity supporting student success as a Sign Language Interpreter in a dynamic elementary school environment. This full-time assignment spans from September 10th, 2026, through May 26th, 2027, with hours from 7:30am to 2:30pm, Monday through Friday, totaling 35 hours per week. You'll be instrumental in promoting accessible education for a 5th grade student in a general education classroom.
Qualifications:
Valid and active GaPSC Sign Language Interpreter Educator Certification. Completion of district-required fingerprinting prior to start. Previous experience interpreting in a school setting strongly preferred. Proficiency in American Sign Language and understanding of interpreting protocols. Ability to build rapport with elementary-aged students and collaborate effectively with educational staff. Commitment to fostering an inclusive classroom environment.
Responsibilities:
Provide direct 1:1 sign language interpretation for a 5th grade student during the school day, facilitating clear communication between the student, teachers, and peers. Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities faithfully and confidentially. Collaborate with teachers and educational professionals to support instructional goals and student participation. Adhere to all ethical guidelines and policies relevant to educational interpreters and maintain accurate documentation as needed. Assist in nurturing the student's engagement and independence within the general education setting.
