Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding opportunity as a Sign Language Interpreter, collaborating closely with students and school staff in a supportive educational environment. This contract position offers consistent, school-day hours and a chance to make a meaningful difference through 1:1 student support, all within a welcoming school community.

Key Qualifications:

Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated fluency Previous experience interpreting in a school setting preferred Ability to provide 1:1 communication support to students Understanding of the nuances of student-interpreter interaction Strong interpersonal and organizational skills Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and fostering inclusivity Appropriate certification or licensure as required by state regulations

Responsibilities:

Deliver accurate sign language interpretation between students and staff throughout the school day Support a single student's access to classroom instruction, activities, and school events Collaborate with teachers and support staff to facilitate seamless communication Advocate for students' communication needs as appropriate Contribute to Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings if requested Maintain timely documentation and uphold professional standards
