An educational institution in Oswego, IL is seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to provide comprehensive communication support across the entire district. This full-time, contract position offers the opportunity to facilitate effective communication for students and staff who are deaf or hard of hearing, ensuring an inclusive and accessible learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa to support classroom instruction and school activities Work across multiple schools district-wide to assist students, teachers, and staff Collaborate with educators and support personnel to foster communication and learning Adhere to ethical standards and confidentiality guidelines in all interpreting assignments Participate in meetings, events, and extracurricular activities as needed

Qualifications:

Proficiency in American Sign Language and strong interpreting skills Experience working as a sign language interpreter, preferably within an educational setting Ability to work independently and manage assignments across multiple locations Strong communication and interpersonal skills Certification from a recognized sign language interpreting organization is preferred
