Sign Language Interpreter in Oswego, IL ProCare Therapy - 3.9 Oswego, IL Job Details Part-time | Full-time | Contract $23.39 - $53.39 an hour 21 hours ago Qualifications School experience Educational interpretation Interpretation American Sign Language Working with elementary school students Interpretation experience within education industry Full Job Description Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Make a lasting impact by supporting students and fostering inclusive communication in a school setting as a sign language interpreter. Flexible scheduling is available, with opportunities for both part-time and full-time positions based on your preference and availability. The primary full-time assignment is at an elementary school, but there are needs across five different buildings. Your interpreting expertise will be valuable in helping students, staff, and families experience meaningful interactions every day.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) Relevant certification or credentials for educational sign language interpreting (such as EIPA, RID, or state certification) Prior experience interpreting in K-12 educational settings is beneficial Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, students, and families Adaptability to work across multiple school buildings as needed Strong commitment to confidentiality and professionalism
Key Responsibilities:
Provide high-quality ASL interpreting services for students in classrooms, meetings, assemblies, and school events Support one or multiple students in accessing curriculum and participating fully in the school community Collaborate with educators and other service providers to ensure seamless communication Step in to assist at other school locations within the district during staff absences or high-need periods Maintain ethical standards and remain up-to-date on best practices for educational interpreting This contract role allows you to make a difference in a vibrant educational environment.
