Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding role as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting elementary students for the full 2026-2027 academic year. Collaborate closely with teachers and students in an engaging school setting near Fort Wayne, providing vital access and communication for exceptional learners. This is an in-person, contract opportunity that allows you to make a meaningful impact in a child's everyday educational journey.
Key Qualifications:
Current certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (such as EIPA, RID, or relevant state credentials) Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Experience providing 1:1 support in educational environments preferred Ability to collaborate with educators, families, and support staff Strong sense of professionalism, confidentiality, and reliability Commitment to in-person, full-time work for the duration of the school year Energetic, patient, and passionate about empowering students
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver 1:1 interpreting services for an elementary-aged student during classroom instruction and daily school activities Facilitate effective communication between student, peers, and educational staff Ensure the student's full participation in academic and social aspects of the school day Support teachers in adapting content for accessibility Maintain accurate, confidential records and partner consistently with educational teams Uphold ethical interpreting standards at all times If you're eager to dedicate your skills to foster accessible education, this in-person contract prioritizes meaningful, focused support with a single elementary school student.
