Job Title:
Bilingual Spanish Translator - Solar Construction (Onsite | Muncie, IN) Job Description This onsite role supports a large-scale solar farm construction project near Muncie, Indiana by enabling clear communication between English-speaking supervisors and Spanish-speaking field crews. You will split your time between administrative support for orientation and onboarding and working directly in the solar fields with installation crews. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys a fast-paced, outdoor construction environment and takes pride in serving as a key connector within a diverse team. Responsibilities Translate verbal communication in real time between supervisors and Spanish-speaking workers on-site to ensure mutual understanding. Assist with new hire orientations by translating presentations, policies, and safety information for Spanish-speaking team members. Support onboarding activities, including helping workers complete paperwork and explaining forms and documentation in Spanish. Provide ongoing translation support during daily field operations, including solar panel installation and related construction activities. Ensure workers clearly understand job expectations, work instructions, safety procedures, and project requirements. Walk job sites in the solar fields to facilitate communication between crews and leadership throughout the day. Translate documentation as needed, including forms, instructions, policies, and other written materials. Act as a cultural liaison to promote collaboration, clarity, and efficiency between English-speaking leadership and Spanish-speaking crews. Maintain professionalism and confidentiality when handling employee information and sensitive conversations. Use basic computer skills to assist with electronic onboarding processes and documentation management. Essential Skills Fluency in Spanish and English, both verbal and written. Ability to provide accurate, real-time translation in a construction, industrial, or field environment. Ability to work on-site daily in Muncie, Indiana. Comfort working outdoors in varying weather conditions in an active construction setting. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build trust with supervisors and field crews. Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and ability to maintain confidentiality. Basic computer skills for assisting with onboarding, documentation, and administrative tasks. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior experience translating in a construction, industrial, or field-based environment is strongly preferred. Experience supporting orientation, onboarding, or safety briefings in a bilingual capacity is beneficial. Familiarity with solar construction or renewable energy projects is a plus. Ability to walk long distances, stand for extended periods, and safely navigate active job sites. Work Environment This role is based on a construction job site at a solar farm in Muncie, Indiana. Work is primarily performed outdoors in solar fields and involves a hands-on, field-based presence. You will split your time between administrative tasks such as orientation and onboarding and working directly in the solar fields alongside installation crews. The position requires frequent walking over long distances, standing for extended periods, and navigating active construction areas. Personal protective equipment, including hard hat, safety vest, and work boots, is required and must be worn as directed. The typical schedule runs Monday through Saturday on 10-hour day shifts, with start and end times that may vary based on project needs. Overtime may be available depending on project demands. The environment is fast-paced, collaborative, and focused on safety and clear communication. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Hartford City, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
