Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity working closely with students as a Sign Language Interpreter in a supportive school setting near Overland Park, KS. This long-term assignment runs from August 3, 2026, through May 21, 2027, offering the chance to make a real impact over the course of an academic year. You'll play a pivotal role in facilitating communication for Deaf or Hard of Hearing individuals, ensuring every student receives the access and support they need to thrive. In this position, you'll work a consistent 37.5-hour week, primarily supporting two elementary-aged students in daily interactions. You'll act as the bridge between spoken English and American Sign Language (ASL), interpreting in classroom and school-related environments, while upholding absolute confidentiality and the highest ethical standards.
Key Qualifications:
Current licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter (must be provided when applying) Prior experience interpreting in educational settings preferred Proficiency in ASL and an understanding of Deaf culture Demonstrated commitment to professionalism and confidentiality Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to adapt to a dynamic and inclusive academic environment
Core Responsibilities:
