Job Description
Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students by utilizing your skills as a Sign Language Interpreter in a vibrant educational setting near Peabody, MA. This full-time, contract opportunity offers immediate start and extends across a 5-week summer ESY program, with the potential for continued work into the following school year. As an interpreter, you'll support a dedicated student who works closely with a Teacher of the Deaf (TOD), utilizes an FM system, and cochlear implants. Your expertise will foster a positive, inclusive environment that empowers growth, communication, and academic progress.
Desired Qualifications:
Current certification in sign language interpreting or relevant credential Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Prior experience interpreting in school settings preferred Familiarity working with students using cochlear implants and FM systems is a plus Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills Flexible, reliable, and passionate about educational accessKey Responsibilities:
Provide accurate and effective sign language interpretation for students, staff, and peers throughout the school day Facilitate communication in both classroom and schoolwide activities Collaborate closely with teachers, support staff, and families to support the student's individualized needs Support the student's understanding and participation in curriculum content and social interactions Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical interpreting standards and school protocols Enjoy the opportunity to immerse yourself in a supportive and collaborative environment, where your contribution directly enhances educational success and student confidence.
