Hybrid - in person and remote Position Overview Cancer Connection is seeking compassionate and experienced Support Group Facilitators to lead All Cancer Support Groups in Springfield. We are currently looking for facilitators for groups offered in both English and Spanish. This may be filled by one bilingual facilitator or by two separate facilitators. Groups will be offered in a hybrid format, with participants joining either in person or remotely using video conferencing technology. Facilitators should be comfortable engaging and supporting participants in both settings and helping create a connected group experience for everyone, regardless of how they attend. Our support groups provide a welcoming, confidential, and supportive space for people affected by cancer to connect with others, share experiences, and receive emotional and practical support. The facilitator helps create an environment grounded in respect, compassion, listening, and community. Responsibilities The Support Group Facilitator will: Facilitate regularly scheduled All Cancer Support Group meetings in Springfield in a hybrid format. Engage and support participants attending both in person and remotely. Create a welcoming, inclusive, and emotionally supportive environment for all participants. Encourage meaningful conversation while ensuring all participants have an opportunity to be heard. Establish and maintain appropriate group boundaries, confidentiality, and group guidelines. Support participants in navigating the emotional, social, and practical impacts of cancer. Recognize when participants may benefit from additional support and connect them with Cancer Connection staff when appropriate. Communicate regularly with Cancer Connection's Center Director regarding group participation, needs, concerns, and overall group experience. Collaborate with Cancer Connection staff to support participant engagement and accessibility. Complete any required attendance records or brief program documentation. Qualifications We are looking for candidates who have: Experience working with people affected by cancer, cancer support services, oncology, behavioral health, social services, or a related field. Experience facilitating support groups, therapeutic groups, peer groups, or similar programs. Strong listening, communication, and interpersonal skills. The ability to create a compassionate and nonjudgmental environment. Comfort supporting people experiencing grief, uncertainty, stress, and other challenges related to cancer. Strong professional boundaries and an understanding of confidentiality. Comfort using video conferencing or other remote meeting technology and facilitating groups with both in-person and remote participants. Reliability and the ability to work collaboratively with Cancer Connection staff. Relevant backgrounds may include social work, counseling, psychology, nursing, oncology, community health, chaplaincy, or other helping professions. Equivalent professional or lived experience will also be considered. Spanish-Language Group For the Spanish-language support group, candidates must be fluent in Spanish and able to facilitate sensitive and nuanced conversations comfortably in Spanish. Bilingual English/Spanish candidates who are interested in facilitating both groups are especially encouraged to apply.
