Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students' communication needs as a skilled Sign Language Interpreter in a vibrant school environment. This full-time contract assignment, situated close to California, MD, offers a dynamic setting for utilizing your expertise with a direct 1:1 student caseload. The position begins August 10th, 2026, and continues through June 17th, 2027, perfectly aligning with the academic calendar.
Key Qualifications:
Valid Maryland Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) License Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Previous experience working in educational environments preferred Strong interpersonal and communication abilities A commitment to fostering equity and inclusion for all students
Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 sign language interpretation for students, facilitating communication in academic, extracurricular, and school community settings Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and special education teams to ensure students' access to the curriculum Adapt interpreting techniques to accommodate varying learning and communication styles Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in educational interpreting Support students' engagement, advocacy, and skill development By joining this school community, you will make a meaningful difference in a student's daily life, help bridge communication gaps, and contribute to a culture of accessibility and support.
