Qualifications and Experience:
Proficient in American Sign Language with an ASLPI score of 4.1 or higher. Previous experience interpreting in school settings or with children preferred. Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative academic environment. Excellent interpersonal, listening, and communication skills. Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic school atmosphere. Willingness to work on-site and available to travel for the duration of the contract.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide consistent, accurate sign language interpretation for a designated student throughout the school day. Facilitate communication between the student, teachers, staff, and peers, ensuring full access to classroom instruction and school activities. Collaborate with teachers and educational staff to support the students individualized learning objectives. Uphold confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in interpreting and educational support. Participate in meetings and training as required to continually enhance interpreting skills and remain informed of best practices.
