Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a meaningful role supporting students by utilizing your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter in a welcoming high school environment. This is a full-time, contract opportunity lasting the entire school year, where you'll make a tangible difference in the academic and personal success of a deaf high school student who recently transitioned to this setting. Your communication skills and commitment to in-person interaction are valued highly—the student prefers face-to-face engagement over virtual support, and the school administration is fully committed to fostering this connection.
Desired Qualifications:
Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) with strong interpreting abilities in educational settings Experience working with high school students, especially those who are deaf or hard of hearing Ability to facilitate effective communication between students, staff, and faculty Comfortable working full-time hours on campus for the duration of the school year Professionalism, flexibility, and a collaborative spiritResponsibilities:
Provide daily in-person interpretation for a high school student during classes and school activities Work alongside teachers and support staff to ensure full accessibility for the student Interpret classroom discussions, directions, and school events as needed Adjust interpreting approach to match the student's needs and learning pace Support the student's integration into both academic and extracurricular programs Maintain confidentiality and promote an inclusive environment This position provides an excellent opportunity to build connections, expand your skills, and offer vital support where it matters most.
