Job Description

Make a lasting impact by supporting a third-grade student as a Sign Language Interpreter throughout the 2026-2027 school year. This contract role is based near Burnsville, Minnesota, and offers the opportunity to develop a meaningful one-on-one connection while facilitating optimal learning for a young student. Your expertise will ensure full inclusion and communication access within the classroom environment.
Key Qualifications:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of Deaf culture Valid EIPA score of 4.0 or higher, with certification documentation Previous experience interpreting in educational settings, particularly K-5, is highly valued Ability to collaborate closely with educators, staff, and families Professionalism, reliability, and strong communication skills Adaptable, with a positive attitude and a student-centered approach
Primary Responsibilities:
Serve as a dedicated 1:1 interpreter for a third-grade student during all school hours Interpret spoken language into sign language (and vice versa) in various academic and social settings Facilitate effective communication between the student, teachers, peers, and staff Support classroom learning, activities, and participation, ensuring the student's full engagement Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines for educational interpreters Monitor student progress and collaborate with the educational team regarding strategies and accommodations This position follows a school-based schedule, commencing August 24, 2026, and ending June 3, 2027, with standard hours from 8:45 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., excluding a 30-minute lunch break each day.
