Job Description

HealthPartners and Regions Hospital is seeking an Somali Interpreter to provide interpreting services both in-person and for Video Visits. Interpreter must hold certification as outlined within the job description. Qualified candidates will have experience interpreting in a health care setting and can help meet unique communication needs across the patient population. The interpreter will be responsible for: facilitating daily cross-cultural communication between patients, family members and others, along with medical providers and staff. serve as a cultural and language resource person. Performs other duties as assigned. Strong candidates will be able to work both independently and as part of team, when needed. Interpreting for video visits may be a part of this role as well, but focus will mostly be on in-person interpreting. May be asked to interpret in the clinical setting as well as within the hospital.

Monday-Friday Day Shift Required Qualifications:
HS Diploma or GED. 4 years interpreting experience with at least 3 years medical interpreting experience. Active Status on the Minnesota Spoken Language Health Care Interpreter Roster. Active Certification Status with either the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters (CMI) OR the Certification Commission for Health Care Interpreters (CHI or CoreCHI) (Department will be tracking certifications).
Preferred Qualifications:
Completion of Nationally Accredited Interpreter Training Program. Some General College.
